Dr. Yau was born in Toronto, Ontario and completed an undergraduate degree in Medical Sciences at Western University. He then came to Vancouver in 2010 to start medical school at the University of British Columbia (UBC) with a subsequent residency in the Family Medicine Residency Program associated with UBC. He has been working at Broadway Plaza Family Practice since 2016 and worked as a cardiac surgery assistant for 4 years until 2020. His practice includes full scope family medicine with exception of obstetrics. He is also a Clinical Instructor with the UBC Medical School teaching medical students and residents at all levels of training and often has them work with him during clinical sessions.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys cooking, food and beverage of all sorts from artisan coffee to craft beer to biodynamic wine. He enjoys skiing in the winter and tennis throughout the year. Mostly, he enjoys spending time with his family consisting of his lovely wife and three daughters who continue to keep him active and cheerful. Lastly, he is a Christian and attends and serves at Westside Church regularly.
