Dr. Timothy Hsia (pronounced shaw) is a family physician born and raised in BC. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Princeton University, and a Masters in Nutrition from Columbia University. Before medical school, he was an intern at United Nations in New York and worked at UCSF under the mentorship of renowned surgeon and oncologist, Dr. Laura Esserman. During residency, Dr. Hsia trained at Broadway Plaza Family Practice under the preceptorships of Dr. Terry Chang, Dr. Terry Reeves, and Dr. Duncan Miller. Today, Dr. Hsia is proud to be a part of the stellar team of doctors working at Broadway Plaza Family Practice. Dr. Hsia’s approach is to treat the whole person, recognizing the unique biopsychosocial needs of each patient. He aims to empower patients in their medical decision-making by giving them a range of well-informed options from which to choose. Dr. Hsia believes the qualities that make for an excellent family doctor include professionalism and integrity, communication and collaboration, and expert advice and advocacy rooted in evidence-based medicine. Dr. Hsia has a passion for serving new families, seniors, new Canadians, and workers in film and TV production in BC. He is also a Clinical Instructor in the UBC Department of Family Medicine.

For his leadership and contributions, Dr. Hsia was the recipient of the 2018 Young Professionals Award, awarded by the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation.

In his free time, Dr. Hsia enjoys natural history museums, sole fishing, and improvisational comedy. He is also a coin designer, music producer, and a member of Westside Church in Vancouver.
